This supervisory position is the wheel that keeps the ranch moving smoothly & efficiently. This position requires an individual who is passionate about creating positive guest feedback and can manage our staff of 5-6 housekeepers and kitchen personnel. This individual will be a self-starter, with the ability to “jump in” on a wide variety of tasks with the ultimate goal of making the ranch the most delightful place possible.

REPORTS TO: General Manager (Ellen)

DUTIES:

  • Guest Liaison:

    • Ensure guest satisfaction throughout weekly stays
    • Work with Facilities Manager to report necessary repairs in the house
    • Work with Barn Manager to ensure all guest requests for specific activities are met
    • Work with the Marketing/Events manager to prepare and manage events
  • Manage House Staff (Housekeepers):

    • Oversee/assist housekeepers complete freshening of rooms on a daily basis
    • Oversee/assist housekeepers complete ranch turn-over on Wednesday mornings and Saturday afternoons
    • Oversee/assist housekeepers complete ranch turnover again on Sunday mornings if the ranch hosts a destination wedding or corporate event the previous night.
    • Ensure cleanliness of common areas throughout the day
  • Manage Kitchen Staff (Head Cook, Assistant Cook, Dishwasher):

    • Oversee/assist kitchen staff get meals out in a timely and organized fashion
    • Approve and oversee Head Cook’s food orders
    • Provides “local expert” Public Health Food Safety Code knowledge & skills
      • Studies regulations & previous inspection reports
      • Rapid cooling techniques
      • Safe food temperature ranges (cooking and holding)
      • Identifies and corrects environmental “weaknesses”
      • Establishes “student” relationship with Public Health Inspector in her consulting role
      • Assures compliance with all health codes, for example:
        • Teaching and enforcing proper hand-washing
        • Teaching and enforcing proper food storage
        • Daily cleanliness inspections
  • Assist General Manager (Ellen):

    • Write weekly staff schedule 
    • Monitoring the weekly guest schedule and making adjustments to staff assignments according to guest requests/needs, scheduled special events, etc., throughout the week
    • Planning airport transportation as needed – rotating it among all staff
    • Accommodating fluctuations in guest census with adequate staffing

  • Management Experience (2+ years)
  • Hospitality Experience (2+ years)
  • Organizational Abilities
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to take direction from General Manager
  • Exceptionally high standard of cleanliness
  • Self-starter
  • Honest, open communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team
  • All staff jump into “other” jobs as needed at the moment
  • Modeling appropriate behaviors, including dining room and table etiquette, sparkling conversation, seeing and picking up trash
